I think it is great that you have shared with other teachers the things you have found interesting. I agree with Kris, you have to let us know if the are just as motivated.

I agree that the 24/7 anytime learning with the conference is way cool. As I was looking over the conference, my mind kept returning to GaETC as I thought of how we might could make some of the sessions available on the web in a similar format...Might be necessary with the budget crunch upon us!!! Traci

Unfortunately, I didn't make the best choice of conferences either. It just goes to show that there's SO much out there that half the battle is wading through it all to find what works for you. I'll go back and try again.
I wish I had a tech coordinator who e-mailed me new ideas. How lucky those teachers are!
Have a great weekend.

It will be interesting to see if any of your teachers are inspired by the presentation that you shared. I too found a couple of sessions that I felt could be motivational!

Yes, I did take the photo. That is what the mountains look like above our high school. I learned when I moved here that Sharptop can be seen from much of the county and is often used as a point of reference, much as the Big Chicken in Marietta. When the high school first opened, I was intrigued that Sharptop has such a prominent stop in its backdrop. And, yes, the autumn colors have been unbelievable this year. The leaves are hanging on as if they just don't want to give up!

I know this is off topic, but I rode through Pickens County today and it looked like the picture at the top of your blog! Did you take that picture yourself? It has been a lovely fall in the mountains!

With so much research on Visual Literacy I think it is AMAZING that there are soooo many beautiful photos being SHARED with all of us!! I think of when I was growing up in school We were so limited visually. One photo in an encyclopedia if you were lucky. Today our students have such a rich environment to explore. ....I am glad I am still a student!!

Linda
It is interesting to me that you have been doing readings about asperger syndrome. My 18 year old son is an asperger student and it has been interesting to figure out what works for him in a school setting. It is one of those hidden disabilities that you don't really see unless you are REALLY tuned in. I do hope you will link any future info you find about aspergers.

Linda,
Thank you for pointgin me to the article, "Freedom to Read". I love the idea of using the computers for sustained silent reading time. Many teachers report that they are not sure how to explain it, but students who don't typically enjoy reading or writing respond very well to these activites when using technology. After all, the world sems to be moving to this non-print world, so it is a literacy skill we all need to develop.
